HPV is a virus that causes a common infection transmitted by direct skin-to-skin contact, including sexual contact.

There are over 200 types of HPV, about 40 of which can infect the genital area. These fall into two main categories:

  • Low-risk HPV that can cause genital warts and benign skin and mucosal lesions.
  • High-risk HPV, which can lead to cervical, vaginal, vulvar, penile, penile, anal and oropharyngeal cancers. 

The most dangerous strains are HPV 16 and HPV 18, responsible for most cases of cervical cancer. Less dangerous but associated with precancerous lesions and cancer are: 31, 33, 42, 55 and 58.

HPV 35, 39, 51, 56, 59, 59, 66, 68 are less common strains, but are considered high risk.

Most infections are asymptomatic and disappear spontaneously in 1-2 years, in some cases, however, they can occur:

  • Genital warts - soft, painless growths around the genitals or anus; Pre-cancerous lesions - detectable by tests such as the Babes-Pap smear and HPV test;
  • Cancers - occur after persistent infections with high-risk strains.

So, although most do not cause problems, there are cases that can degenerate into precancerous lesions and even cancer.

What can be done?

  1. First, prevention: 
    • HPV vaccine, which protects against the most dangerous strains.

       2. What to do if the infection is present?

    • taking AHCC: according to a study at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), 66% of women who took AHCC at a dose of 3 g/day for 6 months cleared the virus (i.e., 15 AHCC Mycelcaps or 6 of AHCC Mycelcaps or 6 of AHCC MCS or AHCC Vitals).
    • vitamin D3, 10.000 IU/day (associated with vitamin K2 and magnesium): 2 capsules per day.
    • taking Zeolit Spectrum, which may indirectly support the fight against HPV infection and the regression of lesions through detoxifying, antioxidant, immune-supporting and microbiome-balancing effects. Dose: 6 capsules per day.
