Infection with helicobacter pylori is very common, around 50% of the population is infected, but not all cases are symptomatic.

The symptoms it causes are:

  • Pain or burning in the chest (especially on an empty stomach)
  • Bloating, nausea, belching
  • Lack of appetite
  • Weight loss
  • Bad breath.

Medical treatment consists of antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors.

There are also natural protocols that are recommended in several situations:

  1. Complementary to medical treatment, increasing its effectiveness and reducing side effects
  2. After 2-3 failed medical treatments
  3. In people who cannot take antibotics
  4. As a preventive treatment if the infection recurs frequentlyI
  5. For people who refuse medical treatment.

Let's see what a naturopathic protocol consists of, structured on three pillars: antibacterial, gastric protector and anti-inflammatory/regenerating.

ACTIVE PHASE (4 WEEKS)

  1. Natural antibacterial treatment, with documented effect on reducing bacterial load, consists of one of the following products:
    • Oregano essential oil (with carvacrol in minimum concentration of 70%), preferably in gastro-resistant capsules. Take one capsule twice a day for 2-3 weeks. Oregano oil has a powerful antibacterial, antifungal and anti-H. pylori effect.
    • Mastic gum extract (resin of the Pistacia lentiscus tree): 500-1000 mg twice a day, before meals. Inhibits bacterial enzymes and helps heal the gastric mucosa.
    • Berberine: 500 mg, 2-3 times/day for 3-4 weeks. It has specific antibacterial activity on H. pylori.
    • Propolis crude or alcoholic/glycolic extract (min. 30% flavonoids): 30 drops in water or sublingually, 2-3 times/day. It has antibacterial and mucosal regenerating activity.
  2. Gastric protective and regenerating, with the aim to protect and restore the gastric mucosa:
    • Aloe vera gel (without aloin): 20-30 ml twice a day on an empty stomach. It has a healing, anti-inflammatory and alkalizing effect.
    • Raw cabbage juice (freshly squeezed, unpasteurized): 100 ml in the morning, on an empty stomach, 2-3 weeks. Stimulates mucin secretion and ulcer healing.
    • L-glutamine: 5-10 g/day dissolved in water on an empty stomach. It is an essential amino acid for intestinal and gastric mucosa regeneration.

       3. Treatment to regulate acidity and reduce inflammation:

    • Zeolit Spectrum, 6 capsules a day in two or three doses. Absorbs bacterial toxins, reduces inflammation and relieves burns.
    • Hydrochloric betaine (with caution), only if gastric acidity is low, because helicobacter pylori does not live in an acidic environment. Caution: DO NOT give in active ulcers or severe gastritis.
    • Probiotics, one capsule a day, because it prevents helicobacter pylori from attaching to the stomach wall and rebalances the intestinal bacterial flora.

So, start the 3 components of the active phase simultaneously, but stop the first component (antibacterial treatment) after 2-3 weeks, and continue the other two.

BREAK (ONE WEEK)

MAINTENANCE PHASE (2-4 WEEKS)

Probiotics + aloe vera + zeolite).
