Gout: what causes it and how to keep it under control

Gout is a disease caused by increased levels of uric acid in the blood. Gout attacks occur when uric acid forms crystals that deposit in the joints. These crystals cause severe inflammation, intense pain (the patient cannot even touch the skin), redness and heating of the affected joint.

Meat or sugar? Surprise...

People associate gout mainly with high meat consumption. But few people know that sugar, through its fructose content, is the main factor that increases uric acid and the risk of gout.

Normal, moderate meat consumption is not a problem for most people.

How does uric acid increase?

There are two mechanisms:

From purines
Purines are substances contained in meat, especially in organs (liver, kidneys, heart, brain). They are converted into uric acid.

From fructose
Fructose is converted into ATP and ATP is degraded into uric acid.
Besides, fructose:

  • increases uric acid production in the liver,
  • reduces the elimination of uric acid through the kidneys,
  • causes insulin resistance, which further amplifies the increase in uric acid.

What to avoid in the first place

To prevent gout and increased uric acid:

  • Limit sugar and especially sweetened drinks (sugary juices, high fructose corn syrup, bottled juices, even too much fresh juice)
  • Reduce alcohol, especially beer (stimulates uric acid build-up)

What helps you

  • Hydrate well: minimum 2 liters/day
  • Eat meat in moderation
  • Follow the treatment prescribed by your doctor
  • Supports uric acid elimination through the kidneys

Here comes the interesting part: it turns out that zeolite can help eliminate uric acid through urine. I have received numerous messages from people with gout who have told me that since taking zeolite they have had no attacks, even for periods of 1-2 years.

In addition, acidic urine favors the formation of stones from uric acid salts. Zeolite can also help by alkalizing urine, preventing the formation of these stones.

Conclusion

  • Avoid sugar and sweetened soft drinks
  • Reduce alcohol, especially beer
  • Eat meat in moderation
  • Follow medical treatment
  • Get zeolite spectrum
  • Hydrate well

Take care of your body and it will take care of you.
