How does AHCC® work?

AHCC works by modulating the innate and adaptive immune systems. Research has shown that it can increase the activity of natural killer (NK) cells, which are specialized in identifying and eliminating abnormal cells and infectious agents.

AHCC also influences the activity of T cells, dendritic cells, and certain receptors involved in communication between the various components of the immune system. Through these mechanisms, the body can coordinate its immune response more effectively and maintain its natural defense capabilities.

Unlike traditional medicinal mushroom extracts, which primarily contain high-molecular-weight beta-glucans, AHCC consists mainly of low-molecular-weight alpha-glucans obtained through a patented fermentation process. Research published in *Frontiers in Immunology* (2022) by Hong Jai-Park and colleagues showed that administering AHCC in combination with dual CTLA-4/PD-1 blockade in experimental models of colorectal cancer significantly reduced tumor volume and increased the activation of CD8+ T cells, which are involved in the antitumor immune response.
